PAYNOW SOUNDBOX GUIDE

What is a PayNow soundbox?

A PayNow soundbox is a connected merchant device that announces a payment after confirmation is received. HOPPY also displays the confirmed amount and reference and keeps a stall-scoped payment history for later checking.

What happens after a customer scans?

  1. Customer pays. The customer scans the stall’s enrolled dynamic PayNow QR and completes payment through a participating banking app.
  2. Confirmation reaches the stall. After Hawker Online receives confirmation for the signed-in stall, HOPPY displays and announces the amount.
  3. The record remains available. The authorised stall user can review the time, amount, status, and payment reference when reconciling.

PayNow lets customers make payments through participating banks and payment providers, including by scanning a PayNow or SGQR code displaying the PayNow logo. See the Association of Banks in Singapore’s PayNow overview.

What a useful soundbox should show

  • Confirmed payment status
  • Amount received
  • Payment time and reference
  • A visual record when the stall is too noisy for audio alone
  • Transaction history for authorised reconciliation

How HOPPY differs from a basic alert

A basic soundbox may announce that a payment happened. HOPPY is designed to keep the confirmed amount visible and retain stall-scoped details for checking during or after service. It can also use a dedicated SIM connection, subject to coverage and activation checks.

HOPPY does not claim that every PayNow payment is automatically matched one-to-one with a POS sale. Payment history and broader sales records remain distinct unless a separate verified integration says otherwise.
